Brief Analysis

Whats The Final Assignment?

What this final project entails for us level three students is that we have been given the task to come up with our own themes and project ideas. Why, we have been given this task is so that students can show how far they have progressed in this subject, how well they can work independently and as well as to work up to final mark.

Thoughts On Final Major project

The first things that came to mind were emotions such as joy, heavy dread. Mostly joy but both points still stand.

Why this gave me such joy was because I'd be able have complete creative freedom well with the acceptation that it's not to ambitious  and we keep to a strict time schedule (well to me it is). Another factor to put into perspective is that it will give me the chance to show media skills like planning, organisation and flexibility. I feel like these are all skills I have developed throughout the course and are evident in a number of previous units. I will utilise these skills learned and develop throughout this project too.

Another skill I would like to pursue during my final project is the editing and specifically the use of software packages found in the Adobe CC, whether that be with Photoshop, premier-pro or illustrator. Trying to find solutions to creative problem that will allow me to produce work that is of high standards.

The reason why it also fills me with such dread is because my final marks all depend how well I do in this final project and this will decide what my final grade is going to be. So I can't, afford to be sloppy, cocky, lazy or any other negative traits. It requires complete focus, imagination, effort a lot of it. This is an area I know I will find challenging, but it is important at this stage to recognise it and understand it's importance to effectively achieve my final project.

Personal connections

When it comes to personal connections to this project I would have to say it comes down to all my pass work and how it's been preparing for this moment. Inserting all these thoughts and ideas giving me the skill to my final project. Like for example my horror trailer. How it's helped me to go outside of collage to film certain scenes for my horror trailer.  It's also helped me socially giving me the emotional strength to gather up my cast crew members for my project. So, if I did decide to go down the film path I won't feel as threatened  as I did when I started this unit.

Or how about unit 12 that has planted the seeds of  the theme of good vs evil to grow into beautiful film, poster or podcast. It really depends but the research links are their to use if I so choose to carry on with this theme as they're are many directions I could take it. Such as victim of ridicule could stand up against his/her bully or how someone could stand up for the bullied and say no.

Personal challenges

I feel I may struggle to communicate with others even though I've been slightly working on it and improving on over the year by doing some team projects. I still feel like this might get in the way of my work progress but with a bit of counselling I'm learning to get more of my shell.

I think a personal challenge I may face during this project will be able to keep focus on the task at hand as I do tend to get distracted at times. A way I have come up with to counter this problem is by hooking up my headphones to my computer and listening to music. I've done this so I could block out all noisy distraction and so I'm not tempted look at my phone if my music is on the computer.

Possible Threats

A threat may be hiring a cast to be in this project. That range to scheduling hours colliding with crew members jobs or they're to busy with there own project if I so choose to decide hire some of them from my class. This could be rectified by having to replace said actor or changing time scheduled which I prefer not to do or I could film another scene in the mean time. (Same solution for weather issues). Another problem might be that I could end up sick which could be fixed by me doing some the work over the weekend to help catch up on missing time if I were to feel any better.

Project files could become corrupted basic solution is to save these files on multiple drives just so I have spares and don't loose any progress.

A big could be a serious snowstorm that could cause roads to be closed stopping vital members (actors) of this project from doing they're job.

Solution A could be that we focus on other jobs like editing with footage that I've already gathered.

Solution B Try to film some other scenes with the people that are able to make it.

Solution C Maybe take sometime to look at the script and make some changes and edits with the storyboard or script.

Filming locations. Now this could happen for number of reasons like it might be apart of someone land, could be crowded making it difficult to keep focus on other crew members as people may walk into the camera view. This is one of the main reasons why film productions will hire a scout for the recce.
